BE 2014 SP2 with Hot Fix 227745 on W2K8 R2.

Hi all - I have an unpredicatable server that I reboot on a weekly basis as this tends to limit the crash, anyway, the crash is usually kicked off by the following error in the system event viewer which then triggers other errors:

EventID: 1 - Unexpected failure. Error code: 45D@01010016 (VDS Basic Provider) which then triggers:

EventID: 7034 - The Backup Exec Job Engine service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 1 time(s).

EventID: 57 - The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur.

and in the Application event viewer and at the exact same time and EventID: 1

EventID: 33808 - An error occurred while processing a B2D command. Drive: ReadMTFData() ReadFile failed (D:\BEData\B2D018723.bkf) @16628498. Error=1117 

Have no idea which one triggers the other as the time stamps (including the seconds) are the same with EventID: 1 and EventID: 33808

Have others experienced this? - any tips would be welcome - thanks in advance - d

Hi Team,

We have NBU 7.6.0.3 running with 6 media servers , all are of same version. Recently we could observe PBX services are automatically stopping atleast once a week

We are not sure on what is the cause of this issue, if we start only the PBX services all backups are running again.

Have you heard any bug regading this??? can you tell me how to approach and narrow down the issue.

changes made on past 3 months - Added 3 Media servers and 2 Datadomains, backups are running fine on all those

We are running NBU Appliance based environment ver 2.6.1.1 and NBU ver. 7.6.1.1.

We are required to enable auditing to capture who changed what policies and when. We also have OpsCenter Analytics that I am sure can possible be useful.

Appreciate your help with what is required to be done to achieve the above without overloading the Master server with audit logs?

I have different policies for each storage group " database " in exchange 2007 and the backup of all of them is going fine except one storage group which is failing with error

and at the same time in the exchange server it's showing the following errors

Instance 1: The physical consistency check successfully validated 13163670 out of 16973616 pages of database '\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy46\Mailbox\Storage Group 03\Mailbox Database 03.edb'. Because some database pages were either not validated or failed validation, the consistency check has been considered unsuccessful.

Any solution?

Hi all,

I wonder if someone might be able to help us with this.  I can always open a supprt case if required but thought I'd ask here first.

First a little about our configuration:  We have a 7.6.1 Windows 2012 R2 Master server which is also a Media server hosting a MSDP.  This server processes all overnight backups (accelerator enabled vmware policies) to it's own MSDP.  These backups all complete easily within the defined window.  SLP duplication job commences the following day at 08:00 that copies all backups to another 7.6.1 Windows 2012 R2 Media server also hosting a MSDP.

The problem we have is that the SLP Duplication window is closing before all images have been been processed causing error 196.  During duplication window we observe lower than expected resource usage on both media servers.  RAM, CPU and page file usage are minimal.  Also the disk subsystem doesn't appear to be at all stressed. How can we check that everything is working to it's full potential?

Any help at all would be great.  Apologies if I have forgotten to add something.

knowing when I right click on one of these media -> change media owner: an error message " No volumes owned by a media server group have been selected"

I have HP LTO 5 3000 and HP LTO 5 3TB Cartridge

I am not able to use the cartidge 

Media description : (Unrecognized Media)

When i try to long erase the media this error message pop up:The media has unrecognized media header

How can i fix it ? 

Media gone unrecognized after i cancelled the first backup job in the mid of copy.It has no data.

I need a solution

Hi guys,

I have seen several posts for this problem but none seem to help me. I have 3 servers backing up one after the other but wanted to restore something from last nights backup and the date just isn't there.

It seems to show certain days of backups like one agent server shows thursdays and the Media server shows fridays but the other agent server shows all the dates.

Backups we're successful, there FULL backups and NOT incremental or differential backups.

Is there something I'm missing??

I tried this already with few tapes and got error:

hi,

we have a new nbu master server with 7.6 version.

most of our clients is on Solaris 10 11/06 and HPUX 11.23 iA64 and SuSE9 which are not supported.

Currently, this clients has nbu 6.5.4 ver installed on it.

Question is can we perform backup given that master is 7.6 and client is on 6.5?

im just wondering if someone could help me with the IMG folders that are in the directory of the BEDATA folder? currently i have folders in there ranging from 15/12/14 - 06/07/14,

what are these used for? there are 5.6TB of them, are they needed?

I m new to this forum... 

We are running Netbackup Veritas 7.6 on solaris 10 sparc... While i initiate a backup it takes a lot of time in mounting of tape into tape drive and i finally get a media error (84) msg.... We are using SL 500 Storagetek tape lib.... I hav searched alot on net but unable to figureout anything sofar... Output from bptm is as uder.....

I need a solution

I have Storagetek SL3000 tape library attached to Netbackup as TLD robot.
Recently, I added two additional tape drives to the library. Management console of the library detected these drives.

Of course, I rebuild sg driver. I see these drives by OS and by tpautoconf -report_disc as new drives.
When I try to add drives to Netbackup, new tape drives displayed as standalone drives(no a part of library).

How to add this drives to library? What is my mistake?

In my backup exec 2014 if i run liveupdate there is a liveupdate available called "backup exec 2015 available"
If i run this update backup exec 2015 is not installed, when i look in My Symantec there is no backup exec 2015 available.

Does anyone have an idea about this issue?

Hi,

I have just recently upgraded our Netbackup Master and Media servers from 7.5.0.6 to 7.6.1.2

I am now planning on deploying the 7.6.1.2 client software to update our client machines via SCCM 2012, however I currently only have the 7.5 GA client source media / MSI and the 7.5.0.6 update files so will have to script a silent install of the client followed immediatly by the update.

I would prefer to deploy the 7.5.0.6 client software directly but cannot find the source MSI or download for this. I woldn't want to install 7.6 before and 7.6.1.2 after.

Is there a packet (MSI) that I can use install directly 7.6.1.2 ?

Hello everyone,

Here is my problem, we have a netbackup server acting as Master/Media server and about twenty clients running Windows and Linux as OS.

Recently, two servers with MS-WINDOWS backup policy, just hang and block the rest of backups till the backup window closes (ERR: 196).

I thought that might be a problem with the file mentioned in the task dialog box (current file) but everytime when i add the folder found in the previous state, it hangs in another folder.

For now, the two backup policies are stopped, but it is not a solution.

Can anyone help here please?

Hello,

I have installed NetBackup 7.6.1 agent (with 7.6.1.1 update) in several OS X 10.10.x systems and it seems to work, except for one problem.

It does not start automaticaly after a client reboot.

I searched for a solution for this problem and found this post from 15/April/2015 (https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/net...).

I am running NetBackup 7.6.1.1 and I can install the client on a Mac OS X 10.10.3 and 10.10.4.

After the client installation I am able to run a backup.

As soon as the client reboots, the NetBackup agent does not start automaticaly.

If I go to "/Library/StartupItems/netbackup/" and run "./netbackup start" on a terminal window with root privileges, then the agent start and I can perform backups again. Also works with a "sudo /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bp.start_all".

How can I define the NetBackup agents to run automaticaly os OS X 10.10.x ??

I have already checked the folders and files:

Macintosh OSX
/Library/StartupItems/netbackup/Resources/netbackup
/Library/StartupItems/netbackup/StartupParameters.plist
/Library/StartupItems/netbackup/netbackup

How can I know that the "StartupParameters.plist" is correct?

Hi

I am getting the below message when launching DLO from a Mac which is joined to the domain:

     Unable to connect to Media Server. Either you are not connected to the network or te Server it not

     responding. DLO need to be able to contact te Server to perform this action.

Windows computers are working fine on this DLO server and I am also able to ping the DLO server from the Mac,

but I am not able to find the server name from the Mac

Any ideas what is causing this or what might need to be set up?
